Terrantula Cloud

Early access. The hosted version of the Terrantula control plane, for teams who want the fleet layer without operating it.

Everything the fleet needs runs free and self-hosted, forever — that's a commitment, not a trial. Cloud exists for teams who'd rather not run Postgres, apply upgrades, and carry the pager for one more internal service.

What Cloud adds

  • Zero-ops control plane — hosting, upgrades, backups, and availability handled for you.
  • SSO, administered — OIDC/SAML connected to your IdP without you wiring it.
  • Governance surfaces — organizations, projects, RBAC, and an audit trail managed out of the box.
  • Support — a human who knows the product, on the other end.

Same Apache-2.0 API underneath — Cloud doesn't fork it, and there's no capability in Cloud that the self-hosted backend lacks. Your state files, runners, and cloud credentials never route through Terrantula in either deployment (how that works).

The meter is the fleet member

Prices aren't published yet, but the unit is decided: you pay per fleet member — one stamped instance of your template, managed as a single unit of placement and lifecycle. And a member is deliberately bigger than a Terraform stack: the VPC, database, and API stacks that together make up one deployment count as one member, because they're one entity in the fleet. One tenant. One vended cloud account. One regional cell. One per-team data platform. Everything inside a member — stacks, resources, state files, runs, PRs — is unmetered.

That's a deliberate contrast with per-resource and per-stack pricing, where the bill scales with the size of your infrastructure instead of what the tool does for you:

  • Your resource count never matters. A member with 20 resources and a member with 2,000 cost the same.
  • Your stack and state layout never matters. One tenant split across five stacks and five state files for hygiene is still one member — restructure freely, the bill changes by zero.
  • Offboarded members stop counting immediately. Clean teardown is the product's job, not a billing gotcha.

You can count your own bill from memory: "we have 43 clients" or "about 300 accounts" is the whole calculation. The intended shape around the meter: a free tier, a flat team tier, and member pricing that declines with volume. Early-access participants get input on the numbers and a locked early rate.
